It's totally a word! OED it!

Journal Entry: Fri May 2, 2008, 8:46 AM
Wow, I update this . . . less than twice a year. Oh, well. No one really reads it, anyway.

Lately, I've been eaten by choir tour, my various writing classes, and the Heroes application on Facebook. It's ridiculously addicting. Currently, my hero is level 47 (nearly 48) and enjoys throwing around electricity and pebbles.

I'm in that uncomfortable limbo between sending out my study abroad application and finding out whether I've been accepted into my program. I'm fairly certain I will, be, but you should never assume. If everything goes well, I'll be spending the fall semester of my senior year in Hirakata, Japan. Exciting!

I've also been enjoying the Oxford English Dictionary Online. For those of you who are not English majors (and therefore see OED cited in a gazillion articles and such), the Oxford English Dictionary compiles almost every single word ever used in the English language, including anything from the recently coined "girlcott" to words not used since the 1300s.

Here are some of my favorite now-unused words:

gethical: vile, wicked
trylle: to tremble
avaunt: a boast
enmarvel: to fill with wonder
emmele: a term applied in the old Theory of Harmony to the imperfect concords
--and, of course--
bumbershoot: an umbrella

  • Mood: Peaceful
  • Listening to: the Beatles (and lots of Dar Williams)
  • Reading: Mary Poppins
  • Watching: the Dark Knight viral campaign get intense
  • Playing: the Facebook Heroes application--way too much
  • Eating: delicious Japanese snacks
  • Drinking: coffee, too much coffee

I dunno... saying "sheeeep..."
is just not as funny as "llaamaa..."
Maybe if you screamed it really loud...
Anyway... ahem.

Beware the llama. It's a dangerous beast. Ohhhh yes.

Well, not exactly, I suppose. Erm. Not at all, really.

Sheep, though, sheep are pretty dangerous. Mwahaha.
